Hey friends!
I can't believe we are only a few days away from the first day of school! This summer has been great and all but I am definitely SO ready to be back on campus a lot more and I’m especially excited to meet new students. We still have so much to do as a team before classes begin. In the next few days we will be nailing down our student leader team for both Richland and TWU Dallas. We have so many great students that we are considering for leadership this year and being a corefa is a big commitment, pray for the staff as we have these final conversations but also for the students as they consider whether to lead for the school year or not.
GO THUNDERDUCKS!
The first week of school at Richland College we are on campus five days away for long hours meeting students, playing games, telling them about our ministry, setting up time with those students throughout the week and it can be a long and exhausting week. Every year is the same and every year I forget to spend time praying for the start of the school year. This year I’m praying that God will lead us to the students that are in desperate need of Him and His people. That we will be attentive to those that are lonely and lost, I’m praying that every new student gets to make a friend that loves Jesus deeply. Pray for our leader team and staff, for energy throughout the week, a good attitude, and for us to be attentive to wherever the Spirit may lead us. My life has changed completely because Christians pursued me and wanted to be my friend and I just want everyone to have that experience!
Last semester we started Thursday Night Thunder (our weekly fellowship gatherings) and I’m very excited for those to start again. Our kickoff night will be August 29th. If you are ever interested in visiting our fellowship nights please let me know, I would love for you to see what God is doing on the Richland campus.
STAFF RETREAT
This month we also had our summer staff retreat. It was a little different from past years because it was only the Dallas team (UTD,SMU,TWUD) together. A smaller retreat made it easier to bond, we had more time to plan for our campuses, and it also made conversations a lot deeper. Together we read through ‘In The Name of Jesus’ by Henri Nouwen. His book and our discussions have encouraged me to continue relying on only Jesus especially in times when it's tempting to rely on things, people, money, etc. If you do any sort of ministry I highly recommend that you read it but I also think it’s a good resource if you work with people.
Thank you so much for your support! I’m so excited to update you next month when we have kicked off the school year. Let me know if there’s anyway I can be praying for you.
