My friends,

We are officially in August, this summer has just flown by. We are only a few weeks from welcoming back all of the students to our Dallas campuses. Summer has been a great time to rejuvenate but I can’t wait to get back on campus and to participate in all of the welcome week events.

July has been up and down for me emotionally but even in that God has shown himself to be so faithful and so good to me!

Last week the entire FOCUS staff went on a four day retreat to Whitewright, TX. Getting to be with my co-workers for that many days was very life-giving! We all worshiped every day, shared our lives, ate, and played games. This time together as a staff was especially special for me because it’s a time I get to hear from different campuses that I don’t get to spend time. I’m so thankful that I get to work with such a wise, fun, and God seeking group of people! God is so good in creating deep and spiritual friendships and not just coworking one.

Another exciting things about this month is that we have finally nailed down our Dallas leadership team! These people will be meeting and discipling students this next year and we are so excited to have a group who is willing to serve our campuses with their time and resources! This weekend we have will have Corefa Prep -  we will go over different strategies to better serve the incoming freshman and how to introduce them to Jesus. Please be praying for this event.

This time last year I was very nervous about campus ministry and what my role in FOCUS would look like. I made last summer too stressful because I started believing lies about who I was as a minister. Thankfully during the apprenticeship those lies started to be replaced with truths about me and how God really sees me. This summer has been completely different, I feel so rejuvenated and stress-free heading into the school year. Please continue to pray that this attitude will remain year round.

Here are some things to be praying for the next couple of weeks:

• Pray for a great Welcome Week, that we will meet so many students and introduce to a different a good college experience.
• This time of year can be stressful, pray for good hearts and attitudes and that we will represent the kingdom well.
• Pray for our corefa team, these students volunteer so much of their time to meet people, study with them and disciple them.
• Pray for our Richland ministry, we are having two coed cores this school year in hopes to reach out to more students.
