My friends,
The Fall semester is off to a great start. I love Summer and I’m glad it was so restful but I missed being back on campus and around students everyday! Ministry in our Dallas communities has been such a blast and I’m excited to share with you all the neat things God has been up to this past month.
Richland FOCUS
Community college has such a special place in my heart! After doing ministry for a year at Richland I was excited to get to be back on campus and meeting students. This school year we are trying something a little different on campus and we are having coed cores (small groups) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Cores are a great way to build friendships and learn about God together as a community. We had around twelve people show up to our first one and we had such a fun and engaged group. Please be praying for the students that will be coming to core this year, that they continue to have open hearts to Jesus and His promises.
UTD FOCUS
Welcome Week was such a blast at UTD, we were there for several days meeting students, playing games and inviting them our events. The first Friday Night Fellowship was filled with new faces. An encouraging thing that I noticed that night was that no one was sitting alone. If people walked in early they were immediately greeted and befriended by one of our returners, how cool is that??
Leader Team
Every year we have a group of student leaders that volunteer to lead cores and 1:1 Bible studies with students. I wanna take time in this month’s blog to brag about them, they are all so awesome! Each of them were on campus during these first weeks meeting freshman and inviting them into their lives and our ministry. This is one of the most exhausting times of the school year because there are so many people to meet and not once did I hear them complain. These students are ministers of the Gospel at UTD/SMU/Richland/TWUDallas on top of doing school and some even have jobs. Please be praying for our leader team this year, God is so good and faithful for always giving our ministry leaders that are excited for what is doing on the college campus and I’m so blessed by each of them.
Join Me
I’m so thankful for all your support, words of encouragement and the love that you give me. Another huge way you can join me in what God is doing is by joining me in prayer this semester. It is not in vain that we cry out to God, He is always at work, after reading my blog I encourage you to pray for the following.
- Pray for our Richland ministry, one of the biggest struggles on this campus is meeting people who are available and interested in campus ministry. Our staff will be spending a lot of time doing outreach during the week pray that we meet students and that we are as accommodating as can be to their schedules.
- Pray for the future of DACA. If you don’t know what DACA is I encourage you to take sometime to read on it. This is a program that allows students who were brought to the U.S. at a young to attend school and work. This program is now being repealed and it is now up to Congress to save it. Many people near to my heart would be affected by this, many students that our in our ministries would be affected as well. Please, please, please be praying for a wise decision from our leaders and for peace to the students affected.
- Pray for our student leaders and our cores!
Thanks again! As always let me know how I can be praying for you!
Love,
Sandra
